On 27 April, the trekking took place on the coast of Kalamata. There were three stops that were really important spots for the battle of Kalamata. The event was dedicated to the battle of Kalamata, on April 28, 1941, it was the last given on the mainland of Greece between the German invaders and the allied troops.
Italy
The Urban Trekking took place on 27th of April 2022 in Bologna (Italy), to also commemorate the Anniversary of the Liberation of the city of Bologna (21st of April) and of Italy (25th of April). With the use of the app ActionBound, youngsters and students visited the most meaningful place of the city connected to WWII, Freedom and fight for democracy, in a gamified route around the streets.
Slovenia
A walk around the Novo mesto old town and visiting the statues and memorials connected to the WW2, and the Yugoslavian era. Most statues are meant forthe fallen partisans and are in memorial of the heroes of the WWII. There is one exception, showing the other side of the tensions. There is also a plaque that commemorates the Slovenian war of independence.
In Slovenia also exists a regular event called »Pot obžici« (en: »The path of the wire«) which is happening every year in Novo mesto and other cities of Slovenia. During the WW2 Slovenia was occupied by the fascist forces, part of it was German and part Italian, until Italy's capitulation. The cities were at the time surrounded by wire and bunkers. The walk commemorates the National fight for freedom and includes a longer and more detailed expedition through history.
Poland
In Poland, students had the opportunity to visit sites linked to persecutions suffered by Wroclaw's Jewish population under the Nazi regime, before and during World War II, including a Jewish cemetery and memorial site. They also learned about how the history of Wroclaw and its inhabitants was shaped by the tragic events of WWII and the post-war order, as the city suffered from being governed by two authoritarian regimes known for their intolerance of diversity and blatant disregard for human rights - first the Nazi Germany and then communist-ruled Poland.
Romania
In Romania, the Urban Trekking event was organised in collaboration with Muzeul Casa Muresenilor Brasov, and let participants discover the local history related to discrimination and intolerance.
