Abstract There was a time in Greece when whistling a forbidden song served as a slogan of acquaintance, declaring a deafening reaction, hope and complicity. It was the time when newspapers were no longer published and the books were subjected to precautionary censorship, so that no one is infected by "anti-national" or "immoral" texts. In particular there was strict control over any existing media by that time, i.e.: newspapers, magazines, books, public gatherings, arts, music, cinema and radio.Minorities such as Jews, homosexuals, gypsies and anyone else who was considered as danger or wrong example for the authoritarian society, were chasing by authorities through the media and snitches, until they were tortured, exiled or dead. From 1916, when the World War I begin, to 1974, when dictatorship leave the country, Greece went through many regimes. Two world wars, many civil wars and one dictatorial regime made its citizens suffer, bringing another minority into the spotlight each time. Below, facts will be noted from all these harsh times, starring this dictatorshipin which they existed the most bans and persecutions. Censorship and propaganda Throughout this period censorship may have operated under a single legal framework, but phases are distinguished with stricter or less stringent conditions, which are directly related to the political situation in Greece. IN FACT, WALLS WERE FULL OF POSTERS ASKING THE SOLDIERS WHO WERE COMING BACK FROM THE FRONT, NOT TO MENTION ANYTHING RELATED TO THE WAR. From the first day of the dictatorship, a Censorship Service is installed in the ministry. The police goes to presses and stops printing the newspapers. They had only managed to get out some morning leaves, none from the afternoon. The next day censorship begins normally, in everything. Students and women are forbidden to take sides through any publication. Homosexual magazines are not allowed to be published. Any reference to accidents at work is prohibited. The newspapers write the same things, they all have the same content. Even the weather is censored. "We are afraid of everything". Many publishers, journalists, editors and magazine directors are getting imprisoned and tortured even for contents that are not their own. Although, several journalists and press technicians are organized into resistance organizations. Illegal newspapers starts to circulate and political prisoners make illegal magazines inside the prison that includes their tortures and other cruel truths. Also, journalists and others feed the world with news of anti-dictatorial actions, trials, arrests, tortures, deportations.Everyone has to know what’s going on! Gradually there is a tolerance. Nevertheless, journalists have to know what to write and what to avoid because persecution always lurk. But how Greeks are going to be informed about the situation that prevails throughout Greece? How are they going to revolute without knowing who is by their side? At this point, the correspondents play the most important role. Declaration of a correspondent: It is the time when Deutsche Welle takes a leading role in informing the Greeks, too. Every night at 21:40 million Greeks gather around their radios to secretly hear the voice that would convey to them everything that the dictatorship did not allow them to know; about the actions of the anti-dictatorial struggle that started from abroad, about the fates of the prisoners, about the torture. With a dense network of informants around Europe, the editors of DW attempt to limit propagandaof the dictatorship and avoid the division of the people. Moreover, censorship services are also set up for books, radio, cinema and theatre separately. According to these, film companies, devotees, playwrights, composers, companies producing "phonographic records" and publishers have to submit an application to which are attached copies of scripts and theatrical texts, lyrics and sheet music or book essays for the granting of a relevant license. Audit committees, on the basis of applications and the follow-up to the general rehearsal of a play or the performance of a song, can prohibit films, etc. and to modify or remove texts, verses, scenes or dialogues, if they judgethat they have a "harmful" impact on the youth, disrupts public order, promotes subversive theories (homosexuality, unity, antiracism), discredits the country and undermined "the healthy social traditions" of Greeks. The treatment of minorities Jews and Gypsies National guarding dominates many times in foreigners' issues. These people are not allowed to wait on the line of messes, even if they are hungry, they will not approach the cauldron. Generally, it is dangerous for them to be in public spaces. A well-known newspaper of the time writes: gypsies and Jews are against of our National existence. They are accused of altering the Greek religion and culture, characterizing them with heavy insults. Specifically, this article causes a great division between Greek communities by saying:“They were the traitors of the place who sold their fields to Jews and gypsies for a few money and understood their mistake. But there are also those "others" who take from these minorities a lot of money in order to build for them their houses. These Greeks are frivolous, unconscious, uncivilized and bring sick in their own home.” Women Women are lower in this era and so public spaces were almost only for male. A man could meet a partner in almost all public places but a woman not. Even the most central streets of Athens are ideal places for erotic encounters. In the sense that men frequent there, they are considered popular and morally dangerous places for society. That’s why there is restriction of women in specific places and hours, especially for the single ones. Another forbidden part for both young people and women is the cinema.Movies are mainly from foreign production and depict more modern women and ideas. A bad influence for Greek way of life. Homosexuals In the Greek society of the '30s-'70s, in the everyday vocabulary, the sexual behavior and sexual identity of a man is conceptualized based on the gender category that belongs and not that of the sex of the sexual partner. More specifically, men are not divided into "heterosexuals" and "homosexuals", but "masculine" ("men") and "effeminate" ("faggies").A "masculine" can have sexual practices with either an "effeminate" or another "masculine" but this action doesn’t stigmatized him as homosexual. Lesbians are not even considered as a definition. These definitions begin after the World War I, where rumors say that soldiers in the period of war are intertwined with each other only because of lack of women presence in the camps and natural sexual needs that are needed to be satisfied. So, this action is socially legitimized through their sexual representational performance as "men" whose sexual needs could be met, or rather relieved, only by "faggies" due to the social prohibition of premarital sexual encounters with women and virginity taboo. The literary texts of the writers who lived their homosexuality from 1930 to 1940 describe the masculinity of men as natural. Nevertheless, the "masculine" must also have relations with women, because if they do not have one, they automatically face terrible racism and run the risk of assuming a homosexual identity that would lead to social stigmatization, resulting the risk of their families, constant and violent police repression. That’s why the ones characterized as "effeminates" have a conventional male appearance. Only a small percentage of courageous "effeminates" men are queerin appearance and these ones are in high danger. Tenderness and love are not considered essential components of the heterosexual couple or marriage.Limiting their heterosexual relationships to mere sexual activities, men could experience an intense emotionality and sensuality with other men.For many of them, this sensuality extended to sexual relationships that were sometimes long-lasting and characterized by intense, often passionate devotion between men. Although these relationships are forbidden.
